Adidas Football Uniforms for 2021 Season Released by BC

After announcing that Adidas would take over as the program's official apparel and footwear supplier in late April, Boston College Football Wednesday released the first products of its partnership with Adidas, along with new football jerseys for the upcoming season.

BC fans won't need to adjust their eyes too much to see their team's next season, as the new uniforms look very similar to last year's iterations and feature two of the program's classic uniform combinations, such as maroon and gold. Contains white and gold.

Some changes include adding the Throwback School logo to the jersey centre and increasing the number and names of the players. While the placement of a shortened version of the school's name in the jersey centre is a common feature in Adidas college football uniforms design, it is a notable change for BC, as the program has historically omitted the school name from its jersey.

The number size and font are also similar to those used on the jerseys of Adidas' other college football partners, although the increased size is a far cry from the bold styling that Nike regularly employs.

Adidas hosts four other events in the ACC, namely Miami, Georgia Tech, Louisville and NC State. As of 2019, Adidas produced jerseys for 12 of the 65 Power Five events, while Nike made 42 and Under Armor jerseys for 11 schools.

BC Football's deal with Adidas will extend to the 2023 football season and is believed to be the first FBS school with an only football apparel deal.

Although the Eagles had a stable of five jerseys last year, the team only wore two of their throwback jerseys and a red bandana kit. The program will cut out unnecessary designs and run with only a trio this time.

The red bandanna jersey that the Eagles donned for their game against Notre Dame last year is the property of Under Armour, but Adidas will design a new version of the alternative football uniform. Details on the uniform have yet to be released.

Head coach Jeff Hafley expressed enthusiasm about the new uniform in an April interview with The Athletic.

"I think this year we're going to get a little more styling out of it," Hafley said. "I'm so excited about what I think they'll look like. A little more colourful."
