New Basketball Uniforms Reviled by Phoenix Sun

As diverse and culturally rich as the roster, the Phoenix Suns fan base is. The Suns have always been proud to celebrate the culture in the surrounding communities. The Suns have a knack for finding new ways to honor the city they call home, from "Los Suns to "The Valley".

Devin Booker, All-Star guard, is more than a great basketball player. He is also a beacon for the Phoenix community. Both Booker and his fans proudly acknowledge their Hispanic heritage. New uniforms were revealed Wednesday by the Suns to reflect this sentiment.

The concept design was released by the team and featured a black-and purple basketball jerseys Aztec alternate Aztec uniform. This is the symbol of their work to honor the "early ancestors" of the Valley.

The chest features an Aztec sunstone that symbolizes "a gathering of gods working together as one", and is seated behind the PHX logo (the same PHX font used in the 2018 Statement Edition jerseys) and the jersey numbers of each player. According to the release, the sun stone's rays "represent radiating heat and unity, all emanating from one source, the Sun."

The jerseys feature an Aztec deathstone on the back that "pays tribute to fearless warriors even when faced with death." On the one side, there are outlines of jaguar armor and on the other the Suns fireball logo.

The team has shown the potential uniform, which is based upon ancient Aztec symbolism. Now, they are asking fans for their opinions and thoughts on their Twitter account @Suns.

The Suns already have the "The Valley" City Edition jersey, but this concept adds more pride to Arizona and takes it to a whole new level.

Suns Twitter members have already started to create their own court concepts.
